Blog update - now with Twitter!
Some changes to this blog - better tags, and now with embedded twitter.

This is just a quick post to highlight some recent changes I have made to this blog.
The most noticeable is twitter - I've embedded my latest tweets in two place - one at the top of the blog start page, and 4 tweets in the sidebar. This is all thanks to a jQuery plugin I found here. When I get around to it, I'll explain how you can add something similar to your site as well.
The second change is to the way tags are handled - rather than using the default system:tags, I've used @URL in the start page to make it more user friendly. Clicking on tags will now shows a list of posts styled the same as the blog start page. Again, I plan on writing a how-to for those of you not sure how to use @URL in the ListPages module.
So now you have no reason not to be following me on Twitter!

The one on the blog start page looks a bit like an advertisement… not sure if that's a good or bad thing just yet… it's slightly distracting as ads in that part of the page usually are, but it means that people will notice it I suppose.
Just my two five cents ;-)

It does too! I hadn't even thought about that. I guess it is kind of an ad, though. I'll wait and see what others say about it…

Because this is the blog start page we're talking about, it should probably be kept for blog-specific content, actually. So furthermore I'd say that twitter doesn't belong on that page.
I would suggest perhaps moving it to the home page somewhere instead? The only twitter related info on the home page (at the moment) is the icon in the top bar. Putting a feed there would be useful but it would require you to re-think the layout a bit to fit it in.
I haven't commented on twitter in the side bar yet. That looks great! :)
Of course it's your site, and all of your other readers may think it's perfectly fine as it is. I would like to see what others write about this as well…

I agree with Shane. However, I would like to ask what are the effects of the jQuery script? Is it a slider? I'm on mobile and can't see anything special about the box :P

Shane, I'm going to rejig the homepage once I finish uni, so I might incorporate twitter then.
Well in the original plugin the box slid down as the tweets loaded, but that was lost somewhere in translation. I think it's got something to do with the way wikidot handles the [[html]] block.
